Christmas bird count

Do you participate in the annual Christmas bird count in your area? It's administered by the National Audubon Society & has a great following. It began on Christmas Day in 1900. How's that for a year? Created to count birds instead of hunt them during the holidays. While I must confess, I've never done an actual bird count for them, I do try to keep track for my own benefit.

I have never heard about this from my Christian friends, but it is nice to hear here a lot of things like Thanks giving, etc.

It is nice to free birds for life.

Does killing to animals is allowed in Christianity? I heard as jesus might told not to kill them, but here people told that was wrong.
